Had a blast last year at LogiCON? Well, set aside April 14th and 15th this year
because LogiCON is back in 2012, twice as big and ten times as much fun!

We’re super excited to formally announce that LogiCON is back in 2012!

Once again we’re pleased to partner with the Edmonton Telus World of Science to put on another great event full of science and fun for all ages and science literacy levels. And this year we’re thrilled to announce that LogiCON will run two days instead of one! That means we can bring you more great science presentations, panels, and workshops than last year. We’re keeping roughly the same format as last year, and are super excited by some of the great people we already have on board!

Our team is hard at work setting up speakers for LogiCON 2012, and also keeping busy arranging a super special extra event for this year’s LogiCON: stay tuned for more information coming soon!

We were pleased as paint to have Daniel Loxton as our LogiCON 2011 Keynote Speaker,
and are just as tickled to share these videos of his presentation.

Skeptical investigator Daniel Loxton tells the tale of his youthful passion for mystical forces, hidden monsters, and things that go bump in the night. It’s an enthusiasm he learned from his paranormally-inclined parents — who, paradoxically, also gave him the critical thinking tools he uses in his work today.

Is sheer weirdness enough reason to reject paranormal beliefs? Daniel says, “No way! The universe can be as weird as it likes.”

A better question is, how can we find out what’s really true? Daniel shares his elation in discovering, as a teenager, the existence of a specialized “skeptical” literature that uses science and scholarship to solve spooky mysteries. He argues that skeptics and paranormal enthusiasts are often driven by the same love of mystery — and share the scientists’ love for seeking the truth.

Due to a faulty SD Memory Card, we lost all the footage from one of our camera angles: oh no! All we have to work with is the footage from a hand-held camera, and the results are a little shaky. We’re currently rendering versions of the video to reduce the shakiness, as will replace each one as soon as the better quality versions are available. Until then we apologize for any seasickness these videos cause.
